Although some individuals sustain serious injury to their brains during childhood, the likelihood of encountering a student with traumatic brain injury (TBI) in your classes at Temple will probably increase as more veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan return to school. A recent New York Times article places the current number of returning service members with TBI at 400,000.

The severity and effects of brain injuries vary from case to case, so students with TBI may seek different accommodations.
