Student Services

Temple University is committed to the inclusion of students with a disability in all programs and services. Disability Resources and Services (DRS) facilitates access and accommodations on an individualized basis and provides opportunities for students to grow and develop. We work to build a learning community where people with diverse abilities are valued and included in all facets of life at the university.

Accessible Housing

University Housing and Residential Life offers a broad range of accessible housing options. DRS provides information about personal care attendant services, service animals, emergency evacuations, and accessible off-campus housing.

Academic Accommodations

Academic accommodations are supports provided to students for equal access to the university environment. DRS uses an individualized process to establish reasonable accommodations on the basis of a meeting with you and a review of all supporting information you provide.

Field Education

Many academic programs require field experiences as part of the curriculum. DRS will collaborate with you and your academic program to coordinate necessary access and accommodations in field experiences.

Communication Access

DRS coordinates sign language interpreters and CART transcription services for eligible students.

Assistive Technology

Assistive technology is any hardware, software, or piece of equipment that is commonly used to improve the functional capabilities of individuals with a disability. Temple University strives to offer assistive technology universally throughout its campuses.

Alternate Format Materials

Students who have difficulty accessing books and printed material may benefit from books in alternative format. Alternate formats include Braille, DAISY, e-text, audio files (MP3, WAV, and Media Player), supported alternate text and large print.
